Oral Exams

Orals Exams in Irish and Modern Languages (i.e. German & French) can take place between March 26th and April 15th (i.e. during or very close to the Easter holidays).

More information on the Oral Exams will be provided to the relevant students in due course.

It is our intention that all Oral Exams will take place between Monday 12th-Wednesday 14th April. Exact dates and times will be communicated directly to those students sitting Oral Exams.

Timetables

The timetables for the written exams are now available. Please click here to access theses timetables.

Online Candidate Self Service Portal

The online portal opens to students at 12 noon on Wednesday the 10th of March and will close at 6pm on Tuesday the 16th of March. All Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied students are required to access the online student portal to:

· Opt in to receive SEC Accredited Grades or

· Opt in to sit the Written Exams in June or

· Opt in to both

· Select and confirm their levels for each subject

· Select if taking an additional Subject outside of school.

Students can opt to do the above on a subject by subject basis.

However students should note that if they do not opt in to sit the Written Exam during the above dates, then they can NOT opt to do so at a later date (when the Portal re-opens in April). Therefore, if students are questioning in their minds whether or not they may or may not sit a written paper it is essential that they are aware that they can opt in next week (from March 10th -16th) and opt out of taking the written paper in April (when the portal reopens). However, if they opt NOT to sit the paper next week (March 10th-16th) they cannot opt in to sit the written paper in April.

However, a student can withdraw from taking the written exam at a later date. Therefore it is advisable that students give very careful consideration to opting for BOTH the Accredited Grades and the Written Exam at this time.

The online portal will re-open to students in late April / early May to allow students to:

· Change the level at which they wish to accept Accredited Grades and/or take the Written Exam

· Withdraw from the Written Exam

Students should note that after this date has passed it is not possible to change the level at which to receive an Accredited Grade in any subject. It will however be possible to change subject levels for the Written Exam (this will happen on the day of the exam).

LCA

Further details and more specific information regarding the Leaving Certificate Applied will issue in the coming days and will then be sent to students and their parents/guardians.

Exam Numbers

Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied students have been provided with their exam numbers in school this week. Students who were absent will have their number forwarded to them. This is a very important number. Students will need this number as well as their PPS Number (first 4 digits) and date of birth in order to access the online candidate self-service portal.

Unforeseen Circumstances Resulting in a Student Being Unable to sit the Written Exams

There is NO facility to resit a Written Exams if a student cannot sit them at the scheduled date and times (e.g. medical emergency, Covid related, etc).

Where a student is unable to sit the written exam they will receive an SEC Accredited Grade.

If you have any queries on the above, please feel free to contact us in school at any time.

Kind regards,
